EXTRAVEHICULAR ACTIVITY September 10 - October 8, 2004 Steven Brower For his first solo show at Parker's Box, Steven Brower filled the main gallery with one huge sculpture - a life-sized Lunar Excursion Module. In the rear he exhibited the Conrad Carpenter spacesuit as well as paintings, drawings and sculptures related to his Underemployed Astronaut persona, the protagonist of his reflections on the socio-political meanings of the abrupt end to the Apollo program. OCTOBER 8-NEW SHIT HAS COME TO LIGHT: A performance by the band took place as a closing reception for Steven Brower's solo exhibition, followed by the airing of the second presidential debate between President George Bush and Senator John Kerry, on a monitor housed in the doorzay of the lunar module. |
