GROUNDS... April 18 - May 19, 2003 Caroline McCarthy, Ezra Parzybok, Ravi Rajakumar. The three artists in this exhibition all juggle with a veneer of fiction, imposed on, or even extracted directly from the world around us. The works chosen for Grounds all deal with landscapes and/or urbanscapes: Ravi Rajakumar presented empty landscapes carefully extracted from cartoons, Ezra Parzybok showed ambiguous stacked pieces suggesting monumental, ancient (or futuristic) cities, and Caroline McCarthy showed a double screen projection filmed by a camera making a close up study of the kerbside gutter. |
