Born 1953 Los Angeles, CA. Lives and works Brooklyn, NY John Bjerklie has exhibited his work nationally and internationally for over two decades. He is an artist whose interest in art making has always been rooted in a need to give form to the sense of presence that underlies our everyday experience. His work includes painting, sculpture, collaborations, installations, performances, and transparent drawings executed directly onto television screens. He holds a BFA from the Maine College of Art and an MFA from Washington University in St Louis. Mr Bjerklie has shown with Lennon-Weinberg Gallery, AU Base Gallery and Parker's Box in New York City. He has shown with the Neville-Sargent Gallery in Chicago, Elliot Smith Gallery in St Louis and Galerie du Tableau in Marseille, France. Mr Bjerklie has been a resident at Socrates Sculpture Park in New York City, the Ucross Foundation in Wyoming and the Ateliers Triangle in Marseille France. He has been a visiting artist at the Savannah College of Art and Design, Washington University, Webster University, Fairfield College, University of Missouri at Columbia and the Ecole Superieure Des Beaux Arts, Marseille. He has taught in various capacities at Rutgers University, Marymount Manhattan College and the Maine College of Art. He is currently an independent artist living in Brooklyn, NY and serves on the board of the Triangle Artists Residency Program in New York City. |
