Drawing Quirks May 19 - June 17, 2001 Virginie Barré, Jean Bellissen, Simon Faithfull, Jeff Gabel, Charo Garaigorta, and Javier Peñafiel An exhibition of artists from the United States and Europe, whose drawing practices are as original as they are idiosyncratic. As such, they bear witness to a certain idea of resistance to the marginalization implied by the use of primitive image-making techniques in a world of mass-produced high tech image overflow. Indeed this is welcomed as an asset by these artists, who turn it to their advantage through a variety of conscious or unconscious strategies and attitudes. |
