SIMON FAITHFULL |
||
WORKS | BIOGRAPHY | ||
Born 1970 Ipsden, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom Among other projects, Simon Faithfull, has developed a practice primarily using a palm pilot as a sketch pad, allowing him to quickly record the world around him - often the most immediate subjects which offer themselves -such as traffic and commercial signs and signposts, architecture, skylines, vehicles, his dog, people etc. These drawings are then processed and produced on vinyl, plastic, glass or paper, or sometimes made available by e-mail subscription. In some recent pieces, Faithfull has experimented with blowing up the scale of the palm pilot pixels making their subjects more ambiguous in near abstract configurations, which nevertheless represent observational drawings. In parallel to this practice and as an extension of it, Simon Faithfull has also regularly undertaken video projects also involving notions of observation. Artist's website: www.simonfaithfull.org |
