MIKE ROGERS |
||
WORKS | BIOGRAPHY | ||
Born 1957 New York City, lives and works in Los Angeles Mike Rogers was the co-curator and co-founder of the experimental Outdoor Art Space at the California Institute of Technology, which operated from 1999 to 2001. A multi-media artist who works primarily in video, photography, sculpture, and drawing, Rogers' work concerns the interactions of history, nostalgia, technology, and media. Previous works have included a collaborative effort with fellow artist, Dustin Ericksen, over a period of several years, which involved the collection of coffee mugs, beer bottles, wine glasses etc. of artists (instigated by a disappointing studio visit by a famous artist). Besides the collection functioning as a work of art itself, the piece serves as a link to artists highly regarded by the duo, and act as a symbol of their thinking process of art making and the social aspects of the art business. |
